FAQ — The Luxe Essentials

Results & Growth

It nourishes the scalp and supports follicle health — creating the best possible environment for growth. Consistent use over 8–12 weeks delivers real, visible results for most women. It is not a regrowth miracle, but it gives your hair exactly what it has been missing.
We are a results-over-time brand. Give it the time it deserves.
4 weeks —scalp feels different. Less dryness, less tightness.
8 weeks —less shedding, stronger hair at the root.
12 weeks —visible growth, fuller edges, noticeably healthier hair.
It depends on the cause. Batana Oil works at the scalp level — improving circulation, reducing inflammation, and nourishing follicles. If the follicle is still active, it can help. If the hair loss has a medical root cause — hormonal, nutritional, or clinical — we always recommend consulting a trichologist alongside using the oil.
Genetics influence your hair's potential — but they are not the whole story. Scalp health, nutrition, consistency, and the ingredients you use all play a significant role. Batana Oil addresses what you can control: a nourished scalp, less breakage, stronger growth from the root. Start there.
Some shedding in the first few weeks is completely normal — your scalp is adjusting and the hair cycle is continuing as it should. Losing 50–100 hairs a day is within the normal range. If shedding feels excessive or continues beyond 6–8 weeks of consistent use, we recommend seeing a trichologist to rule out any underlying cause.
Yes — especially in the first four weeks. Hair growth happens in cycles and change takes time. The most important thing is consistency over frequency. Using Batana Oil correctly, two to three times per week, for a minimum of 8–12 weeks, is where results are built. Patience is not optional here — it is the method.

Application & Routine

It depends on your hair type. Thicker, coilier hair (like 4C textures) absorbs oil readily and can use Batana Oil as a daily or every-other-day moisturiser without issue. Finer or straighter hair absorbs more slowly, so two to three times per week as a pre-treatment works best, preventing the hair from feeling greasy or weighed down. Whatever your texture, consistency over the full 8–12 weeks is what builds results.
If you have thicker, coilier hair, yes — daily use works well, since the hair absorbs the oil readily without feeling weighed down. If you have finer or straighter hair, daily use can leave hair looking greasy, so two to three applications per week as a pre-treatment is the better approach. If your scalp is particularly dry or damaged, daily use for the first two weeks can help regardless of hair type, before scaling back to your regular rhythm.
Yes — and it is one of the best ways to use it. Apply to the scalp and lengths, cover with a satin cap, and wash out in the morning with a gentle sulphate-free shampoo. Overnight treatment allows deeper penetration and maximum nourishment while you sleep. It is a particularly good method when starting out.
Less than you think. A few drops to a small pea-size amount is enough for a scalp application. Warm it between your fingertips first — it softens immediately — then work it in sections directly onto the scalp using your fingertips. For the lengths and ends, a little more can be used. A 120ml bottle used correctly should last two to three months.
It depends on your hair type. Thicker, coilier hair can typically use Batana Oil as a leave-in, daily or every-other-day moisturiser without needing to wash it out, since the hair absorbs it well. Finer or straighter hair benefits more from using it as a pre-treatment — applied before washing, then shampooed out — so it doesn't leave hair greasy or weighed down. If used as an overnight scalp mask on any hair type, wash out the next morning with a sulphate-free shampoo.

Hair Types & Compatibility

Yes. Batana Oil is suitable for all hair types — straight, wavy, coily, and 4C — and is compatible with all three Ayurvedic doshas. Its molecular structure allows it to penetrate the hair shaft regardless of texture, nourishing from the inside rather than just coating the surface. Whether your hair is fine, thick, low porosity, or high porosity, it works.
Yes. For braids, apply directly to the scalp between rows — do not saturate the braids themselves. For curls and waves, it works beautifully as a pre-wash treatment or added to your styling routine in small amounts. It will not disrupt your curl pattern and adds lasting moisture and definition.
Stress-related hair loss — telogen effluvium — causes the hair growth cycle to shift, pushing more hairs into the shedding phase at once. Batana Oil supports recovery by nourishing the scalp and creating the right conditions for the follicle to re-enter the growth phase. Addressing the root cause matters too: rest, nutrition, and stress management are part of the same picture. We will always say that.
Yes — and it works extremely well for both. Apply a very small amount to clean, slightly damp skin for the beard or brows. For beard health, it conditions the hair and soothes the skin underneath. For eyebrows, use a clean spoolie or fingertip and apply to the brow area nightly. Results are typically visible within 6–8 weeks of consistent use.

Scalp Care & Product Use

Yes. Batana Oil layers well with most natural hair products. Apply it first on damp hair as a base layer, then layer your stylers or creams on top. Avoid combining it with products containing heavy silicones, as these can block absorption. Our African Black Soap, Shea Butter, and Ayurvedic Hair Butter are all formulated to work together as part of a complete ritual.
A gentle, sulphate-free shampoo is best. Sulphates strip the scalp of its natural oils and can undo the nourishment Batana Oil provides. Our African Black Soap works beautifully as a gentle cleanser — it removes build-up without stripping, and its pH is naturally suited to a healthy scalp. Whatever you choose, look for short, clean ingredient lists.
Yes. Batana Oil is deeply moisturising and anti-inflammatory, making it well suited to dry, flaky, or irritated scalps. Its oleic acid content helps restore the scalp's moisture barrier, and its antioxidant properties help calm inflammation. For dandruff with a fungal component, combining it with African Black Soap — which has natural antifungal properties — is particularly effective.

Why Batana Oil

Both are 100% pure Batana Oil — the difference is the extraction method, and each has its own strengths. Cold-pressing uses no heat, which preserves more of the oil's natural antioxidants, fatty acids, and vitamins, giving a lighter scent and texture that's ideal for everyday use. Heat-extraction is the traditional method, passed down by the Miskito people of Honduras for generations — it produces a richer, deeper-coloured oil with a distinctive, smokier aroma that many customers prefer for intensive scalp treatments and deep conditioning. Both retain Batana Oil's core nourishing properties; it really comes down to which texture and ritual suits you best.
Most hair oils sit on the surface. Batana Oil penetrates. Its unique fatty acid profile — rich in oleic acid and tocotrienols (a powerful form of Vitamin E) — allows it to nourish the hair shaft from within and work at the follicle level. It is also one of the few oils with a documented history of use specifically for hair growth, used by the Miskito people of Honduras for generations. Origin, purity, and efficacy — all three together.
Batana Oil improves circulation to the scalp, reduces inflammation around the follicle, and delivers concentrated nutrients — oleic acid, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids — directly to the root. A healthy, nourished follicle produces stronger, longer, more resilient hair. It does not force growth — it removes the obstacles to it.
Our Pure Batana Oil is cold-pressed and unrefined, sourced from Honduras — specifically from the rainforests where the American oil palm grows natively. It has been used by the Miskito people of Honduras for generations for hair growth, scalp health, and skin care. We source with full traceability and supply nothing but the pure, unrefined oil — no blends, no additives.
